I reckon the airports should pass on the "fine" to the church.... after all, it is an act of god, let them pay up!

fining airports for being snow bound is fair enough. BAA just announced profits of over a billion. if they cant put a couple of hundred million into efficient snow clearing systems its a pretty poor show.
the economic effect of a closed airport like heathrow is far greater than a council not gritting a few roads, so i m not sure about the other points and their relevance. As long as mways and trunk roads are relatively clear, people need to take responsibility for themselves to get themselves to work ie winter tyres, autosocks etc, not rely on the state. |

Maybe if you went to church you could help to fund the fine then Im not sure of the point of this topic anyway - there are more government screw ups and issues than a fine to airports. Mike |
