No, the lights are permanently live, but the ecu switches them to earth if the door is opened. Cheers, Vincent

The interior lights are controlled by the 10AS alarm unit (ECU) which has inputs from all the door and bonnet pin switches to activate the alarm.
There are 2 or 3 different options for the way the interior lights work but it will need to be programmed with a suitable diagnostic tool, e.g.. Nanocom or similar. |

That is line with you interior lights problem then... Think you had an alarm, but it (the AS10 unit) has been disconnected.
I have the same problem with the lights, because the previous owner installed an after market alarm and immobilser unit in stead of the AS10... There were some problems with immobiliser unit (spider), mostly bad solder connections on the pcb board, but that was with the earlier models (300 tdi), but I guess that would have been solved by 2003.
Edit: If you don't have a fob, then clearly the alarm/immobiliser unit has been disactivated! Easy enough to check and see, if you have one, the 10AS will be mounted on the bulkhead behind the speedo binnacle, either remove the binnacle (4 screws,) or the speaker below it and look up inside with a torch. The 10SAS is a green box about the size of a smartphone but a lot thicker with two multiway connectors on the underside.
Edited to add; what year vehicle is yours? |

Yep, just took the clocks out and can see the green box with a land rover sticker on it.
Can it be connected and can I get a fob? Or was it disconected because it caused problems? |

I don't believe the 10AS is generally too unreliable and you could get a fob, problem then is you will still need a diagnostic device in order to pair the fob with the unit, (assuming it does actually work.) It could just be that the original fobs have been lost or broken and the immobilised disabled.
Incidentally the 10AS can also control the central locking if you have it, although being a truck cab I suspect not, in that case a couple of parts will be missing but they can be added later. |
