Are you looking for the indicators relay?
It's under the steering wheel not under the seat if so Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards⦠Daily is a 110 V8. |

Under steering wheel access hatch, think 2nd from left top row or second row down can't quite remember.
And yes, you can swap relay and then lights at a later date. However, when you do swap, swap front and rear indicators in one go. TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°πͺ |

look at the fuse panel under the steering wheel. it is easy to get to.
if you get the tow warning light on just tiddle the knob on the new relay until it goes out |

What are the reasons to swap both front and rear at the same time?
I fitted rear NAS LEDs and left the incandescent bulbs in the front for a few weeks before changing... I still have incandescent wing indicators even now. Just tweak the variable load resistor each time a lighting change is made. The RDX relay is the better choice relay to give full flexibility and stop the trailer light flashing |

The side repeaters are fine, but front and rear with a different load on each will flash at a different rate.
As a rule of thumb the two don't mix, only the side repeaters do as they are 5w. Having said all, that it's not a crime and should work but MOT time I doubt a tester would be smitten with it. I ran RDX indicators front and rear LED and RDX Relay with standard side repeaters for a long time with no issues at all. Then I upgraded to Brendan's LED side repeaters and all has been good ever since. ![]() There is only one downside with the RDX relay. (And Wipac's) It is that with a trailer on with standard lighting it works great, excellent in fact. However, I found you had an LED lit trailer with low current load it won't trigger the trailer light. The trail light when indicating is a legal requirement if you were pulled over. So, if you don't tow at all no problem, if you do with incandescent lit standard trailer lighting no problem as I regularly do. If you tow with LED lit trailers or a combo of incandescent or LED lit trailer she you have an issue. Two options to combat that issue, fit resistors to indicator wiring on the trailer to simulate the same current load. (Although they come with their own heat issues.) The dash trailer light will then work correctly on the dash. Or fit an indicator buzzer to the Defender for when you are towing. Due to these issues I've stuck to standard lighting on my Ifor trailer, but I would like to go LED. I might do so one day. TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°πͺ |

Regarding LED lights on trailers and the RDX relay...
I thought we might have trouble with our new caravan - I have RDX indicators front and rear on Gracie and suspected that the very low current draw of the LED lights on our caravan might not be enough to trigger the dash trailer light. However, the RDX relay is adjustable - that little knob on it is capable of fine enough adjustment to detect the the load at which the dash trailer light should come on - even with the low current draw of the LED indicators on our caravan. After 1 minute tweaking it all works as it should - the dash trailer indicator only flashes when the caravan is also attached. The eBay blurb on the RDX relay says it won't detect the LED lights on a trailer, but my experience shows otherwise. It very much depends on the current draw of the trailer LED indicators. One thing is weird though, or it might just be failing memory. I always thought the RDX relay did the OEM thing of flashing once even if a trailer wasn't attached - however it certainly doesn't do that now. Again, that might just be failing memory... Very interesting reading.
![]() Do you have any idea of what current draw the indicators on your caravan is? TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°πͺ |

The caravan manufacturer, Swift, has a technical manual but just specifies that it's an LED unit with no specifications. It is quite 'fancy' with quite a few LEDs making up each LED indicator.
In reality I'd be surprised if the current draw is more than 4 or 5 Watts, so 0.4 amps. A normal indicator bulb is 21W or 1.75 amps at 12V. So 1.75A incandescent vs. 0.4A LED. Quite a difference. Dave Green Goddess - 1998 Defender 110 300tdi |

Indeed, there cannot be much in it.
I've found the RDX relay to be brilliant, it does everything you want basically. TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ β½οΈπ’οΈβοΈπ§°πͺ |
