I may live to regret this but I'm quite happy to use a mobile device.

I'd never ever access my car's ECU with a mobile device, would you - honestly?
From my point of view: This sorts the IID tool out ( as long as I cannot service the ECU's software myself)

P.S. Feels also very uncomfy for me when the retailer accesses my car's ECU with his WiFi equiped laptop :|

Yes, with the IID tool, all the time and not had any issues to date which is to be expected as it is the tool that is connected to the OBDII port that does the actual reading / writing and the mobile device has the software loaded onto it that can interpret the data from the tool and allows the two to communicate. A lot safer to when road testing as there are no cables getting wrapped around your leg or pedals. The same can be said with a majority of my diagnostic tools as I go bluetooth if the tools are capable.

Hello Everyone

Lorryman is right. As per the user manual:

Once started, the re-flashing process is independent from the App and is only handled by the IIDTool. The App is only used to display the current status and can be left in the background, foreground or closed. If the mobile device gets disconnected from the IIDTool, the App will recover automatically once reconnected to the IIDTool.

In other words, all sensitive operations, not only reflashes, are only handled by the tool. The App simply acts like a remote control. Streaming data from a mobile device to the tool when sensitive tasks are performed is asking for trouble and we will never implement this method.
