In the same boat, both my keys are knackered. I've read conflicting accounts of the transponder being in the key or the plip. Thankfully mine are held together with superglue and this job is about 15th on the to do list

You can just get a new key cut, Timpsons do a good job.
Buy a Genuine key too, not from eBay becuase if it snaps your into a lot of issues. All electronics that I'm aware of are in the key fob, not the key its self. I had older style keys, got two new style ones cut a year or two ago. They are much nicer. |

I bought one of these
http://www.remotekey.co.uk/land-rover/defe...erallinone as a replacement key and fob - very impressed with service and quality and much less bulk than carrying round a key and a fob! |

Hi,
Is this all in one key/fob still working OK? If so it seems a good alternative to carrying around a key and a fob. Cheers. |

I've had one from Remote Key for about 18 months and it's still going strong.
It uses a different battery to the standard plip but it's still working fine (for now!) so I don't think that's a major issue. The blade bit I got cut at my local key cutting place and it works fine. It's just a standard key that they've trimmer a bit off to make it fit in the fob. |

Ken, will they come out then and effectively offer the same service?
Its not that obvious on their site, seems more of a replacement service if keys are lost or damaged. I am a member so if they do it may be worth asking. Cheers. |

If I recall, there was someone doing the folded key/blipper thing a while back, may have been a group buy I think.
I'll do some digging and see if I can find anything on it, would love to go that route. it's a Landrover thing... my renovation thread: http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40792.html |
