Having read that I'm now in a quandry. I really thought I wanted a set of BFG AT KO2's but now I'm not so sure. It would be interesting to see a head to head (or should that be a foot to foot) review of the BFG and the Cooper AT3. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

my perception of the KO1s vs the AT3s is that the KO1s would be a harder and longer lasting compound.
KO2s are softer than the KO1s so that might bring them closer together. I have not been impressed seeing the off road performance of either KO1s or KO2s in comparison to my Latitudes, but then the GG AT2s (in a much shorter tyre it has to be said) didn't do that great either. The part worn, Discovery sized GG AT2 seemed about on par with the new Defender sized BFG AT KO2 to me. I have to say that I haven't driven with either personally, just followed (or not when the direction was in to a tree or sideways down a hill) vehicles with them - the only off road driving I've done is on 7.50 Michelins (XPC and Latitude) and BFG MT in 255/85R16. |

I was speaking to Silverline Wheels for prices for BFG KO2 and Coopers and they said "It’s rare we get asked for BFG these days they are an extremely expensive tyre and Cooper out performs them every time." May be commercially biased?
The Cooper AT3 is the tyre that would probably best suit my needs, it just (and I know this is completely wrong to say..) looks too road biased for my liking, but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to go for the ST Maxx or STT Pro. None of this probably helps in the tyre choice for sand though! Sorry. So finally, after lots of confusion and reading all the threads, decided on BFG 235/85/R16. Initial reaction, smooth drive and less noise. Waiting for the first drive in sand which will be the real test. Time will tell

Have you got yourself an air compressor? Letting the pressure down makes a big difference.

I have an air compressor which I have been using previously. Normally do 16 psi on Nissan patrol(safari). Not sure what would be the ideal pressure on defender. Reckon 18 - 20 psi should be good enough. Waiting for the weather to be better to take the truck out in sand. Cheers TVM |

By the way TVM, how do you compare the Defender to the Nissan (assuming it was a Y60)?
