Bumper repair
I removed the front bumper from the Heritage in order to get a scrape sorted out. The body shop has offered to have it stripped, powder coated and then painted in an attempt to prevent corrosion. It is an extra £50. Is it worth it?

Yes...(if done well).

What is the OEM treatment on the Heritage Bumper... Question

Looks to be 'standard' issue, with a sliver painted finish (not galvanized) and black end caps.

A good powder coated finish will exceed the LR paint...a two part 'hardened' paint will be better still
(it's actually tough (able to take impact) not hard)...so chips (corrosion start points) are reduced.

Main second area to get right is the inner cavity...for this dinitrol or similar surface treatment is worth
considering.

Thanks! You are right, it is just a standard paint finish. Having removed it I can see its not going to last long if just repainted. They will powder coat the whole thing so hopefully that will keep the rust at bay a while longer. Rolling Eyes

Best is to electrogalvanize before powder coating.
I had my rocksliders sandblasted, electrogalvanised and powder coated which costed € 5 per kg, so it is definitely worth it!

Only powder coating is no good, moisture wil enter under the coating at every crack and it will rust under the coating which will eventually peel off. It is better then to do a good prep and apply a good industrial paint. Cheers, Vincent

Why not buy a proper galvanised bumper and sell the damaged one - they are cheap
