Great image.
IMHO there wouldn't be another vehicle in the world where the "first & the last", after 68 years, would look so similar. Pickles. |

Shame the Heritage is not in Keswick Green as that's a closer colour to the light green of the early 80in

The Grasmere green is very close to the original 1948 colour:
A friends very early '48. Click image to enlarge Another friends Keswick for comparison. It is a lot darker than the original (Anson cockpit green)! Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

I had a January 49 80in in original light green paint, when I removed some of the cappings the paint underneath was very close to the colour of my 2007 Keswick Green 110, a sort of grey green. The Grasmere green is closer to the pastel green of the Series 2 / 2A. This was confirmed by one of the top Series 1 restorers in the UK.

Yes, Keswick can look like that, when the light shines on it in a certain way, especially in a colour photo, I've got similar images of ours, but, if the light shines on it from another angle, the two colours can look a lot more similar! Yolo was down at our place recently & we took photos of our vehicles, both Keswick, and with the sun shining on them from different angles, they each looked a different colour! Jeez, I like the look of your friend's Series 1, any more info or pics of it? Pickles. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

It is a very early 1948 in fact # 130 off the production line so first week of production. I only have photo's of it in groups with other Series 1's but must get a photo with Hugh alongside. Most trips with this Series 1 though are in my Series 1 so may not get the chance. We have another 1948 in the group which should be the same colour so will get Hugh alongside this & take a photo for comparison. Colour bond have a shade called river gum, which is almost an exact match for that early LR light green.

Morgan 1936 to 2016. 80 years later I'd say they still looked similar and of course they are still in production unlike our deceased Defender.
