To amp, or not to amp?

I have a 90xs which I have had the stereo upgraded; alpine BT head unit, alpine component fronts and coax rears, with the slimline sub- basically the factory upgrade but done afterwards.

So, would an amp make any difference? I find the sound ok, but he woofer just makes the cubby rattle if it's up too much and the main speakers seem to be lacking. Can get an OK sound by adjusting the EQ's, with CD or iPod source, but with any volume it distorts.

Used to be into home hifi and always went for good amps, so they had plenty of power in reserve but not really that experienced with car hifi.

If it distorts with volume it needs amping Ray
