I erect, dismantle, inspect and service tower cranes all across the UK, the 90 is fully loaded all the time with chains and equipment, never has an easy day. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

A friend bought one of the first 300Tdi Disco ES's in 1994 and it used to spend it's life towing everything including classic cars and tractors, it was constantly off road and had multiple drivers.

It was meticulously serviced to Land Rover's requirements although most was done by our local Indie, Mike Aitken 4x4 in Ladybank, Fife, very few repairs and the ORIGINAL clutch was replaced at 250,000 miles!

Sadly this new clutch will outlive the old one in terms of age but not mileage as the body is now totally dead at around 280,000 miles and that was after major surgery a few years ago! It is now the Estate hack as no MOT is required.

I had one fitted while the gearbox was out (would have been stupid not to) to replace a failed clutch slave / thrust assy. There was plenty of friction lining left on it but springs were getting weak.

And I also "assume" Rolling with laughter Land Rover fitted one when the engine went pop (transit oil pump issue) If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Your not the first to say that Land Rover could get a lot of information back from me as a test driver. We would soon spot the weaknesses day in day out. Doubt they would want to see their precious test cars dragging loaded artics out of building sites with all 4 wheels smoking (there is a youtube vid somewhere). If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Surprised a 90 is roomy enough! 110 or 130 I would have thought you need. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender

Actually engine no 3, first on went bang (not literally oil pump failure) 26thou second one 94thou guess what oil pump again. Since then religiously changed oil and filter every 6 thou miles to stop diesil contamination from the dpf regen cycle. Apparently there was 30% diesil in my oil when the last engine went pop. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

On site trying to get the trailer round a 110 or 130 would just be too un-manoverable. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
