Def 90 anti roll bar doubts
Hi all,

My 90 currently has no ARBs front or rear. It has a 2" lift, rear HD springs. It's quite aceptable at cornering, but not as good as stock.
I'll be intalling a roof rack soon, for a full load expedition. I'm afraid it will get too unstable then.

Some questions:
a) Do you think I'll need ARBs with the loaded roof rack? Did the Camel Trophy Defenders had ARBs?

b) Are ARBs compatible with the 2" lift?

c) If I'm only to get one ARB, should I go for the front or rear one?

Thanks in advance

I can't really answer for a lifted 90, but my 110 has a Patriot rack and (being County spec) had no ARBs. It used to roll noticeably on corners, and with stuff on the rack (and I do on occasion put quite a weight up there) it used to roll like a sailing clipper in a heavy sea. It was a good safety feature, really, because it made you keep the speed down.

I fitted initially a standard rear ARB and it made a huge difference (my unscientific test using SWMBO, who didn't know about the ARB, showed that I could corner about 15mph faster than before without gatting told off)! A couple of weeks later I fitted a standard front ARB and can honestly say that it made far less difference than the rear one had made.

Overall, I have to admit that fitting the ARBs has made the road manners of the vehicle noticeably nicer, and makes a very significant difference when there's a couple of hundredweight on the roof.

I fitted standard ARBs because they are easy to obtain either from dismantlers or from people who are upgrading, and I don't drive or corner like a loony. I also want to keep the off-road performance and articulation good, so I didn't want anything too rigid. I took the view the LR probably put some thought and science into achieving a good compromise.

Thanks Blackworlf,

Yes, there are some around for sale from people who removed them. There's a front one for €40,00 very close to me.

Anyone has pictures of the chassis brackets for the ARBs? I'm not sure mine came with them
