| Pulsating Diesel knock when idling | |
Picture a Defender.
After a long run on the motorway, when still hot, it develops a strange problem when I park it. I stop on our company lot, and let it run idle for a few moments.
Then it starts: the car shudders. An incressing knocking noise develops. First it's faint, then peaking loudly. Strangely enough, after a while, it subsides. Then returns again, fades, returns, etc. All occuring in intervalls of about 10 seconds.
Did anyone else experience this before? My current workshop is at a loss, as it did not occur when I had it with them for my last stay. It might be due to the long distances the Defender has to drive before it happens.
But before I let the experts rip the whole system apart, at great cost, I'd rather fetch for some similar experiences to learn as much as possible about the possible causes.
I presume someone else here might have had it, too.
