I don't think that a link to these has been posted before, my apologies if it has.
I came across the following site (from a lambda sensor specialist) the other day, which has a series of very interesting technical pages explaining the combustion process and how anti-pollution measures work to a reasonable level of technical details but presented in an easy-to-read and comprehensible way.
