TD5 2001 Intercooler
I guess I'll know tomorrow!

I bought a second hand turbo inter-cooler replacement for my poorly one on the Defender, 2001 TD5. The tag on the "new" one says "Defender EU3 BTP5650 11/9/2001" My question is was there such a thing as a EU2 and if so when did it change to a 3? My Defender has a date of 8/4/2001. Is this EU3 a likely replacement for my duff one? As I said in my opening line, I'll find out tomorrow!

If the old one is a "2" could this still be fitted?

Early TD5 (1999-2001) weren't. No Cat and no EGR cooler.

With the change from 10P to 15P came the change to EU3. Different injectors, different fuel rail layout in the head, EGR cooler and Cat.

Having said that, intercooler remained the same.

Engine number on V5, also on side of block.

Also 15P have a fuel return hose running down the outside of the head behind the inlet mani.
