Today with perfect weather conditions (sunny and pretty strong winds) we have the annual biggest regata here, the Bol D'Or which is a 66.5 nautical miles (123KM) long race from Geneva all the way to the other end of the Lake and back.
More than 500 sailing boats participate, many of them do it at a leasurely pace, often with a barbecue on board, but there are also what they call the F1s of the sailing community who are serious racers. Took some pictures, and there seems a Land Rover sponsored boat amongst them.... The race map Pre start, all still quiet at 08.00 hours... Why am I not surprised that of all people, it is you who says that? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Went biking along the lake here this morning, and was reminded that next weekend it is the 77th edition of the big regatta Bol d'Or Mirabaud again. At the Yacht Club a week ahead of the event we spotted today the Land Rover catamaran already parked up for further preparation this coming week. Looks like it might become an interesting edition for the 500 participating boats as the forecast for next week remains pretty warm, but very thunderstormy....

The Geneva Bol d'Or Mirabaud, the biggest regatta on a closed lake on earth, is on again today. About 600 participants, interesting weather conditions this time, the start was in benign half sunny conditions with moderate winds, but the rest of the day weather will flip flop between rain, dry, heavy rain, dry, etc....
Few pictures I took after the start today. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Eric You never actually own a Defender.
