Have a look on these website. I have been thinking the same myself but waiting to see some in the flesh so to speak for deciding which route to take.

yeah I spotted the second one from extreme and would be an option. I don't want to fit non generic land rover parts really so will likely go with the LED stop and indicator lights I already have. I'm considering also adding an extra fog and reverse light to the rear and have one both sides "just because I can!" as there seems to be the LHD plugs already in place to do this. An extra reverse light would be handy as my ladder blocks quite a lot of the light.

Twin led fogs are rather bright. Stop and tail still not sure if the NAS style ones would be too large higher up on the corners. And would worry about kicking high level lights off when getting up and down from the roof rack, hence thinking of something a bit more narrow.

Just make sure that you do not fall foul of Constrution and Use regularions with regards to lamp and light locations - min and max distance from the floor, which side, distance from edge of vehicle etc. If PC plad wasnts to be funny it could be at your expense. I've just finished putting these onto mine. I have fitted them similar to how they were fitted on the 2013 "Pole of Cold" royal geographic expedition Land Rover.
They used NAS 95mm tail/brake lights and the standard 70mm indicators. I've used led units from mobile centre, so complete NAS 95mm led tail/brake kit led and I used their speaker/river runner led indicators. For reference I have the rest of the rear on the mobile centre speaker/river runner brake & indicators and their led reverse and fog lights. I also got the plugs from them, so I just made up the loom. The brake wires come up the driver side and does both high level tail/brake lights and the indicators take off from each side and are then ran up through existing conduit at the wheel arch and then up to the top on each side. As these are LED units, they are a not as deep as the standard units with a bulb and the centre hole I've done just big enough for the plug to fit through, whereas with bulbed units a larger hole would be required. Type in Land Rover Pole of Cold into google and there will be a few pictures showing the rear of the Land Rover. Hope this is helpful. |

Here are a couple of pictures.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge As mentioned, the high level brakes are operating the same as the standard brake light, so on dim when the lights are on, and then on bright when the brake pedal is pressed. The speaker/river runner lights from mobile centre are very similar to the nas lights with small plinths, but are obviously a single unit. I'm a big fan of high level repeaters, I followed a friend with a set on his D1 roof rack from the Austrian border to Calais, the effect in traffic is brilliant - be safe, be seen!
On my 110, I've fitted a pair of LED combined brake, tail and indicators, I don't have the tail lights connected so the brake light effect is enhanced massively. Not a bad job to do, identify the correct wire in the existing light loom, cut, then join an extension cable in to the height of your high level repeaters. I used heat shrink crimps with heat activated glue to make the joins. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Sandy |

Any of you who did the installation - do you perhaps have pics to share of how you routed the inside cables please?
Thanks !! |

When I do mine Ill post some pictures. The wires for the indicators and stop lights should be in the rear corners either side. From memory the wires come in under the vehicle on the drivers side then split off to the passenger side. You should be able to tap into the relevant wires and run them up to the rear panel where they will be fitted to the lights. You'll have to take the rear headliner section of to fit them I assume.

what do people think I should fit? I have the standard sized Wipac LED indicators in white and red stop lights. To keep them all the same I was going to fit these at high level. Shall I fit them level with each other or at an angle with the indicator outermost and the stop light innermost?

I've just added high level Wipac clear LED running/brake and indicator lights and LED work light to my ever growing costing a blooming fortune list of upgrades being done in a few weeks time. It all being stripped out to fully insulate so it's a good time to have that done.
My headlights have also now become indicators as well You certainly can't miss me Click image to enlarge |

Riverboy, I know where you're coming from!! I need a mortgage to fund everything I have planned! A labour of love
On another note it is getting quite annoying how much some people are charging for upgrade parts. I understand the Landy upgrade scene has exploded in recent years however some stuff is frankly a ripoff. |

I don't know, we were just saying how reasonable most stuff was for Defenders. The problem is there are just too many must have addons Mind you, I am having to take her all the way back to the UK to have this done because there's a very limited choice of upgrades here in France and what there is is usually twice the price. I'm so looking forward to my 12 hour drive to Calais (not)
