One of the greatest & most courageous men that ever lived.
Ali is my all time greatest hero by a huge margin. He fought some monumental battles in & out of the ring, and suffered terrible indignities in trying to continue his career.
Here is one of his quotations: "I'm so fast, I can get out of bed to switch the light off, and be back in bed before the light goes out"!
Thanks for so many magnificent memories.
RIP Ali, you will never be forgotten. Martin.

Sad news, great loss.

Never been a boxing fan, but as a kid I would get up at night to watch his fights.

I've always found this man inspiring, however I don't see it as terrible news. I see it as a release for him. Because he spent all his life fighting in one form or another. Be it in the ring, against discrimination, when he took on Islam as a religion and finally against illness.
I'm not a believer, but the spiritual nature of the man for me, means that he is at peace now. If there was ever a person that was going to heaven if such a place exists, it is him.

I was watching through some interviews with him and he talked about the following incident. In 1960 he fought for and won a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. He was at that moment, an Olympic champion and by definition the best boxer in that class in the world.
He went to his home town and went to the best restaurant in his home town to order a meal and they couldn't and wouldn't serve him because he was black. Just 56 years ago he couldn't get served in his own city. I can't imagine dealing with that. Yet it just made him more determined to win and show them what he could do. New project and it's green: www.projectoverland.info

Wonder if in a different time line he would of run for President ?
