My 15 MY made an annoying noise from air intake when I collected it. I took it back and was told they all sound like that now! I did test drive another one and yes it had similar noise. I never found a problem but fitting a safari snorkel has certainly masked it (as long as the vent is pointing forwards!).

Thanks for your reply.
I really cant see this as a normal sound. Another issue which could be related is my oil service led in the square unit, has come on. The vehicle has only done 1800 miles since last oil change. Its at the dealers Monday so will see what happens. If it is a case of they all do it, I will need convincing as to what is actually happening. Maybe you get a recording or video up? or see if anyone local can give you a second opinion? It isn't always easy to describe sounds to others. Better to hear it first hand.

Yeah I have a go pro recording of it, which I showed to the dealer so they knew what to listen for when they took it out.
Its a massive file, am going to see if I can get it edited down to a few seconds where the noise happens, Not having much luck at doing this will ask one of my children see if they can help. Cheers Guy Good idea second opinion, will do that |

Just noticed your location. I suppose that might limit the number of local members.

From your description I think I have the same noise. 2015 90, and has done it for all of its 28'000 miles, although intermittent, and only under similar conditions to as you describe. I havent worried about it because I find it quite a satisfying noise!

My 2012er makes that noise, and always has done. It only occurs rarely, in low to mid throttle and load situations, and sounds to me like the turbo hiccuping on a movement of the throttle. I find it quite sweet and amusing. With the aluminium snorkel it is amplified and and brought up close to the cabin.
I wouldnīt worry about it. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Car back from dealers today.
They seem to think the oil service light hadnt been reset properly, anyway they carried out an oil and filter change FOC. With regard to the chirp/ woop noise, they checked for fault codes, there wrre none and checked all pipework for leaks, no leaks. So guess thats normal then, will see if anything further develops. I have to say I do get excellent servicec from my local Dealers. Thanks again all for your thoughts and comments Cheers GUY |
