I was looking at changing out the wifes car, she presently has a Freelander 1, Looked at a Jeep Wrangler Ultimate 4 Door what does the forum think of these, seems like alot of car for the money, like the Idea of removing the roof and the amount of extra's available. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

A mate of mine bought one recently for 14 grand, brand new. they're having to discount to silly money to get them away.
also, jeep dealerships are closing left right and centre. I like jeep but there is no way i would be buying one. I'm speculating of course but i really suspect they're going to pull out of the UK, and if that happens, prices will most likely plummet. but if you want to keep it til it falls apart then why not? parts arent a problem, certainly not at the moment. |

I would agree that you get a lot for your money. Had a Jeep Commander for 2 weeks with work to drive from Northern Germany down to the South of Spain and back again..... they drive nice and the build quality was good with more extras and gadgets than you could shake a stick at....... (BIG) BUT.......the 80l fuel tank would average 250-300 miles on the motorway at 65-75mph..... I didn't mind it as the goverment was paying for the fuel, but it put me off buying a jeep with the CRD engine.

All good advice, and I just don't think I could have a Jeep in the family, my beloved 90 would never forgive me. Wife would want an auto, with lots of short cold journeys the MPG would be shocking judging by the reports.
Wouldn't want to go jap either, so she'll have to have a newer Freelander or a Disco2 sorted Original Member Pie n Pea Club. 110 HCPU Tipper |

I wish, must admit they look good, but the two wheel drive version is a bit of a cop out, but if it keeps Land Rover going and subsidizes the Defender great Original Member Pie n Pea Club. 110 HCPU Tipper |

Get a FL2
Most reliable, family friendly car we've ever owned. Apparently if we won the lottery (we'd have to enter first) my wife wouldn't change the FL2. Personally I wouldn't change the 110 either - I'd just add a lot of bits to it One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

As Alantd says FL2 is superb although lottery win would mean an Evoke as well, as well as more goodies for the 110.....

Swmbo has a disco 2 auto, driving round town you will not get good mpg about 18-22 mpg!! On the other Hand on long runs you can get 550-600 miles out of the 90 litre tank. Russell
