The dealer scared me to death when I bought my D3 a few years back , along the lines of water based paints they use now are not as good as solvent based so the paint really needs the protection , I went for it.
This time I didn't go for it , since the d3 i have been told a number of times I had been ripped off . Not that the product isnt good more that some well known premium car care products are just as good at a fraction of the price. I reckon a regular waxing would be more effective and better quality. Save your cash. How much is it in fact.
I bet the dealers make commission on stuff like that. Anyway, scratches are par for the course on Defenders. No 3 year old once tried to help me clean the 110 but didn't use the soapy sponge i provided him with, but a carefully selected dirty trowel from the garage. |

I paid to get it done on the first Puma - not this one though. Sales guy admitted it was not really worth it. Much better to seal the paint with a few coats of decent polish.
The seat treatment on the 07 was ok but still needed marks scrubbing off. Might be worth buying some spray 'scotchguard' for the seats though. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Supaguard and Lifeshine are actually good products and do what they say on the tin. People get a bee in their bonnet about them.
Dealers can charge a lot for it - and it doesnt need to be expensive, but it does need to be well applied. You can then "get away with" little onward car work for 3-8years on both - but on both ive had i still polish it. Still doesnt stop stone chips ![]() |

For £299 (not bad actually) you potentially dont need to polish it for 3 years, get the cleaning chemicals (if you went lifeshine you get the polish), an easy clean paintwork, possibly better appeal at resale, some warranty... Mike |
