It finally happened
Hi,

After 18mth and 25k miles my 110 has been, apart from a few niggles, trouble and strangely leak free.

Driving home today I was suddenly faced with a load hissing sound plus loss of power, yep........blown turbo hose.

All credit to the Landrover Assist guys who had the ' very nice man' from the AA with me in about half an hour. Repaired in under an hour and off to the dealers later this week for a new hose. Defender Puma 110XS SW

Sorry to hear that, but being only 18ms old, would your vehicle already have had the modified hose & retaining bracket etc, so Id be interested to know what cause it to fail?....Was it fouling the steering shaft knucle, or did it just blow off?

Hi,

The hose itself has a small hole in it right where it joins an elbow near the inlet manifold.

I would hope mine being a later one (15MY) that any corrective mods from previous years would be fitted.
I'm going to have a good poke around in the morning and then grill the dealer when it goes in on Friday. Defender Puma 110XS SW

Are these turbo hoses something we can diagnose and replace in the field without assistance or a computer?

Perhaps we should just tow a spare Defender on a trailer! Smile YOLO... You Only Live Once...

The hose itself looks fairly simple, just a pig to get at.
If like mine it went into limp mode you will need something to reset the ECU fault.

I use a Bluetooth ODB reader and the Torque app on my phone to read and if necessary reset.
Obviously didn't do that here as wanted the AA chappy to see error code first hand. Defender Puma 110XS SW
