WD40 Myths
Noted a lot of people recommending the use of WD40 for lubrication of stuck items such as locks.

DO NOT DO THIS.

Guess what WD40 actually stands for - "Water Displacement Formula 40" - i.e. the 40th version the makers came up with.

It is for displacing water only. Spray it in a lock, and you may get it open, but next morning, it will be frozen tight again.

By all means, use to get dampness off of areas where the result can evaporate away, but do not spray it into enclosed areas suck as locks.

Trust me - for years, I ran the European end of a USA fishing tackle company, and the amount of reels that came back seized solid due to using WD40 for lubrication or to loosen them off in freezing conditions..........

I use spray grease.

A lot of people WD40 bike chains too - and wonder why they last a few months before dying...

It's good stuff but often misused. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Lubricate lock with pencil graphite, if it's frozen, heat the key with a lighter.
