It's a Scam !!
Hi,

This is way too cheap and is a scam.

I played this one to see where it goes, got their email and bank account details, they just want your payments so beware. They preach PayPal protection for your money, this is all part of the deception.

As an aside there are lots on eBay at the moment, most have ring me on a classified. There are also some very sophisticated sites that look like car dealers, have auto trader lists, stock lists etc etc. They are very, very convincing, one tonight listed lots of ficticious cars as Marc Eaton Cars, you need to watch as Land Rover / Range Rover are particularly prone.

Worst is eBay don't want to know or remove the scam listings. Unfortunately any creditability of the site for me is becoming lost.

I think if you can't see a listing in the flesh before any payment do buy it.

Be careful out there!!!

Regards

You regularly see this on ebay. The other week I reckoned that, of the first 20 newly listed Defenders, 60% were these scams.

They seem to be trying this technique atm.

As already said BEWARE!

I've been looking for DCs all over Europe and saw this on Autotrader. Same photos (but not able to be enlarged, so cut and paste) and very brief detail compared with the original. Also listed in a different county. Contacted the owner tthrough AT who got back to me to say he still had hold of the vehcile and would tell eBay to take it down, which it appears they now have, but makes you wonder if they were just planning to do a runner with the cash or had spied his and were planning to 'steal to order' once the sale was done... I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Same kind of adds running on done deal in ireland too. Rolling Eyes
Usually UK reg, low price and women's name as the contact, also looking for your mobile number in your replied message.

Numbers seam to have increased in the last week or so.

It's not just Defenders, my boss was looking for a Unimog a couple of years ago and a very large proportion of them were fake.

2008 HCPU scams
It's blatant on eBay and A/T, whilst some are quite easy to spot some are complex with a hack of a complete site or a completely fake one, backed up by Google searches etc etc. Many are also listed overnight.

Whilst you can spot these I do wonder how many get sucked in and forward money as deposits who are not so aware of these pests.

I must admit as eBay etc do not take down the adverts when reported, I do play some on occasions, obtaining emails, their bank details.

Will say don't forward any money before seeing the vehicle in the flesh as they can be convincing liars to get you parted from your hard earned money.

Sad state of affairs which will push people to the higher prices of main dealers for piece of mind.

Be careful out there if buying !! Or even selling !!!
