The genuine LR one has the rubber bubble cover on the top. It's not cheap but the quality is good (except the paint which is rubbish!)

I had heard that the genuine ones suffer from rust? They are also on a 3month back order at LR because of this?

There seem to be a lot out with the rubber/plastic but I just don't know which one to buy or where I can even get a genuine one for reasonable money!

Two quick questions
1 How old is your vehicle
2 Do you plan to tow
If 2008 + and YES are the answer then you cant legally use a NAS Step. LR will provide it in writing saying it is not Type Approved, Unless its a Comercial vehicle then thats different,

I recon you could get the rubber off ebay if you looked around so could buy one and swap it out.

It's a 60 2010 and no I don't tow anything with it, In fact I removed the Dixon bate from it as it wasn't required.

I'll keep looking, they seem a bit of a grey area though, I'd buy a genuine LR one if I could find one and it wasn't going to rust out after 12months Shocked

I had a Non genuine one fitted to the Mrs's 90 in 2013, it was supplied by a local independent. It looked identical to the genuine version. Rust formed at the edges of the thin metal sheet supporting the tread. I kept it bay by spraying with acf50 and the step looked fine when it was sold at two and a half year old. Also, I forgot to underseal the support arms so they went brown pretty quick and I just sprayed on spray grease.

I've just fitted one to her new 90, bought from paddocks for about £320, there was no significant delay on delivery. I got this one powder coated along with side runners and treated the interior with dinitrol. I reckon the powder coat cost £60, but it was part of a job lot so not sure of exact cost.

Both had a "style auto" sticker.

If doing this again, I'd go for the Masai version, it is supposed to be zinc plated and powder coated for £360, the only thing is it comes with aluminium tread plate. Not sure if it can be substituted with plastic bobbly type.

I fitted the towing electrics to the cross member hole, otherwise you'll need a bracket to attach to the step. Current Steeds:
2015 110 UW in Grasmere Green
2003 BMW F650 the Hack
2000 Elise
1992 Ducati 888 (no longer in bits, yahoo)
1990 TDR 250 (in bits again)
1988 TDR 250 (no longer in bits) and for sale
