cb antenna on a softop - where?
Any ideas for good range when mounting an antenna on a soft top. Frame for hood is internal and I am not making a hole in the hood. Likewise don't want to drill bonnet.

It could go on the rear quarters on back face above vrn. But range will be limited fwd I believe.

Maybe one of those light bar things at the top of the a pillar ?

Will run sep gnd wire where ever it ends up to help swr. Cheers

I made a mount that bolted into existing holes on the inner edge of the wing, coming under the bonnet and out, with that I worked South America !

On my Bowler 100 I used a mirror clamp on a rear bumperette with the firestick antenna I have.

If you have a puma bonnet they are steel and you use a standard mag mount..

Here's an idea, might not be of taste but it will work. I used to have a 110 truck cab and a cb, inside the Ifor Williams canopy I stuck an old magnet off an old mag mount on the underside of the Ifor top then used a mag mounted aerial on the top, just make sure that the magnets attract Whistle
If you can clip a plate on the underside of the tilt to the hoop then you're laughing with a magnet underneath, it's impressive to those that don't know when you can swing a magnetic mounted aerial up in the general direction of the magnet underneath and it just stays there just like magic!
I fitted another magnet to enable me to put a magnetic flashing beacon on top for when I was escorting oversize farm kit.

How about removing the land rover radio wing top mounted antenna and fitting your cb antenna with a splitter box?

Hey that's a good idea, my CB antenna is good but my radio antenna is pants. I wonder if they work as well as they claim.

All Great ideas, still pondering. Like the metal plate idea, just not convinced on mag mounts for range compared to body mounts. Cheers

The one thing with the magnet to magnet through the tilt idea is that it does really need a physical earth, thinking back I put an earth wire where the aerial attaches to the magnet and taped it to the coax and attached it to the first available earth point.
It's worth it to see poeple trying to work out how a magnet can stay on a non magnetic surface Whistle

Not heard about these splitter boxes before. I like the idea. Is this what you mean?
