If you fabricate a small hooked tool (Christmas cracker flat screwdriver bent over) you should be able to hook the horse shoe circlip by pushing it down behind the winder and pulling the clip out.
To refit, fit the clip in place and knock the handle on with the flat of your hand Good luck Keith |

What you need is a little hook tool.
Like a small screwdriver with a sharp hook on the end. Push it behind the winder, and catch the top of the little holding clip, and give it a sharp pull. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=hook+too...swGCw5yoAw 80" 80" 86" 88" 90" Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered. |

Rip a 25mm wide length of cotton material off an old sheet or something, slip it between the hand,e and the card, sort of pull it to and fro and voila! Off the clip will come.

From past experience with these door cards, it may pay you to get some replacement clips for the lower part of the door card.
I seem to snap them when removing Although you may be more careful at it than me and manage to keep them in one piece. Cheers Simon I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you 1990 110 TD5 county, my first Land Rover - gone 2012 Discovery 4 XS SDV6 - gone 2014 Discovery 4 XS SDV6 - gone 2015 Evoque SD4 dynamic - Wife’s - gone 2015 Urban Truck 90 XS Santorini Black Hard Top - Reluctantly gone 2020 Discovery 5 Eiger Grey 3.0 SE - gone March 24 2021 Defender S D250 Santorini Black 110 HT - gone March 24 2023 Evoque P300e SE wife’s current vehicle |

Very happy. That worked a treat. Combination of a hooked bit of metal and bravely prying the handle out a little bit further.
Thanks guys. Think I might leave the plastic bezel / collar thing off when it goes back together. It still leaves a smaller gap around the handle than the ones on the back doors anyway. 2 of the bottom clips broke out of the mounting in the door card before I remembered to use my trim removal pliers. The remaining ones came out beautifully after than. Hoping that araldite or similar will sort that one out. Looks like fitting the actuators should be pretty straight-forward now. Just remembered they were from Maplin not Halfords. One day I might become really brave and try to connect it all up to the 10AS (have to fit the relay in it first). Looks like there's some really good info in the forum archives on that, but for now I'll just be happy that I don't need to do the ritual stretching exercises to reach around to each door when getting in and out of the vehicle. |

Just been sorting out the rear window on my 110 and after quite a bit of cursing managed to get the winder handle off. I bought some trim removal tools ages ago but really only used one from the pack to pop the trim but AFTER I'd done the winder handle I pulled the other tools all out of the pack and noticed this.

Wish I'd known about that! Time to get the tin snips out and try to replicate it.

It's made from 1mm plate, 12mm in the narrow part and 26mm in the wider section. Good luck.
And as a picture tells a thousand words, here is the clip you're trying to shift and where it fits. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |
