How have you checked the wiring? With an insulation resistance tester is best from the modulator connector under the driver's seat, you should have a resistance of approximately 1k Ohms. This is how I found my fault which could not be nailed down by the dealers on three trips to the garage, did it myself in the end despite being under warranty as it was too inconvenient taking it in each time. Check the condition of the terminals on the relay under the drivers seat also. Mine were heavily corroded and put all three lights on as the abs control unit was receiving no power.
After replacing the spade connector on one of the wires everything was fine. 2002 110 td5 |

Thanks for the replies.
Electrickery is not my strong point so testing technical stuff like insulation tests is not something I have ever done or have the knowledge to do. Does it require a special tester? How is it done ? I have checked all the connectors on the ecu, sensor cables and the relays and treated them all with ACF50. I have had the sensors out and cleaned them and made sure they are properly seated. Checked and adjusted the wheel bearings (left side was loose) I was getting the electrical failure message for both left and right before this but I am only getting it on the right so some improvement I suppose As I am not confident in my electrical abilities I feel like I a floundering around a bit. Any help / advice will be welcomed |

I had a chafed cable on mine which was shorting out to earth causing an intermittent failure. A decent Insulation resistance tester and you can test the circuit by firing high voltages (usually 250/500 and 1000v settings) down the line to test the insulation properties of the circuit to earth making sure you have no short circuits to earth or line to line, it will also check the resistance of the sensor circuits which as stated is supposed to be about 1000 ohms. Thanks K9F. That sounds like something from the dark arts of electrickery. Something for me to read up on !!
I had been over all the cables from the sensors as far back as I could go and there was no visible signs of chafing or breaks. I had cleaned all connectors at the wabco ecu and the relays. cleaned the earths and run an extra earth yo the ECU. I was still getting the 'electrical failure on front right sensor fault' showing on the nanocom. I went back out last night and checked the inputs voltages from the sensors using the nanocom and found the voltage on the front right sensor was showing 0.00 . when I wiggled the wires on the sensor the voltage flicked between 0.00 and 2.25. Hey presto, fault found. picked up a new sensor problem solved. Managed to get a sensor from this guy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231031473043?eui...3&cp=1 Only 47 quid !! As he is only a couple of miles from me in Bolton I called to collect it and got it for £40 !! Bonus NO AMIGO'S Thanks for your help. I am sure I will be calling on your expertise again. It is a land rover after all |
