2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 HCPU Galway Green

rear wheel arches and 110 HCPU

Hi all,

Not particularly wheels or tyres but closely related. I've just come back from having my 110 HCPU fitted with 265/75 Cooper ST maxx on modular wheels. Looking in the mirrors on the way home it is obvious that the rear wheels now protrude outside the tub and there is every likelyhood that at the next MoT faces will be pulled (assuming nothing happens before) so some questions. I've searched this forum and done a google search. I've found some pictures and a few odd threads but nothing very detailed.

I'm assuming the front eyebrows/arch extensions will continue to be OK, unless anyone tells me there is a problem.

I'm also assuming the 2" extension arches would be overkill.

Does anyone have any recommendations for what to buy. I'd prefer ones I can spray body colour as the front ones are Galway green.

Again an assumption, a pair of wheel arches for an 'ordinary' defender will fit.

Hi Tony, what I think you need to do is drop a vertical line from the outer edge of the wheel flare arch down onto the tyre.

If the tread of the tyre is within the vertical line then you are OK. The sidewall of the tyre can be outside the vertical.

If the tread is outside the vertical line as far as I am aware it will not be a MOT failure but contravene the C & U regulations. In that case you might want to consider wider wheel arch flares.

Also ot might well be worthwhile considering wider mud flap brackets to decrease the about of dirt going up the sides of your vehicle.
