Bye bye Series IIa
Sad day as I wait for the new owners of my Series IIa to turn up and drive it away 😞

However my better half said it had to go so I could buy Familymad's 1984 110 V8, so it's not all bad news 😀

Now THAT'S what I call a truck! Brings back memories of probably the best one I ever owned: being one of the last IIAs (1971 'K' reg 6-cylinder) it already had Series III running gear including all-synchro gearbox.

Sad day for us too when it went (not 'cos of the vehicle - they're just pieces of metal after all - but for all the trips and good times it represented), I turned around to see my daughter crying which started my missus off. Lump to my throat, too…

Mind you, I did make money on it: 12-seaters didn't attract Purchase Tax and I'd paid £1,595 for it, picked it up from the dealer in Park Lane! Nearly four years later prices and tax had made them so expensive I got sixteen hundred.

I would agree the 6cyl engines were lovely.

I had an early series III lwb station wagon many years ago with the 6 cyl and it pulled like a train with the most beautiful exhaust note/burbble Thumbs Up

Of course that was the old days when I was young a stupid (now I am old a stupid) so I only went and swapped he 6cyl for a 3.9 V8 - not ideal on a series gearbox Whistle

I have promised to keep the 110 V8 original, honest....fingers crossed Fixing Land Rovers for over 25 years..........and making excuses to the wife for almost as long Smile
