No comment from me on value, but I would say if you want something to feel less precious about then start-out with something that looks less precious and you may enjoy it more - but that's just me

^^^ Yep, that's what I'm keeping an eye out for, difficult to find something that's decent enough to want to buy but scruffy enough not to worry about

I've not got back to the seller, like you all point out, could be buying an unknown qty with lots of problems.
