This is entirely normal on the Puma and there is nothing practical that can be done about it.
Both the inlet and outlet pipes are connected to the left hand side of the heater matrix and as a result the left side gets considerable hotter than the right. The airflow through the left of the matrix exits predominantly through the left vents, which are therefore hotter. LR did release a modification mysteriously for LHD vehicles only which blanked off the left-most inch or so of the matrix but not only does it not make much difference (apparently) but also requires the complete removal of the dashboard to install. |

Thanks Blackwolf - will have to learn to live with it or use the gaffer tape instead

Simon, here is your gaffer tape solution as suggested by JLR.
https://www.defender2.net/gallery/albums/u...er_fix.pdf If you still think about it, then have a look at this older thread with a clear picture by AndrewS about how easy it is to remove the dash... http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic1090.h...p;start=15 After seeing that, I decided that in this case I could accept the standard dealer phrase that "they all do that, Sir". Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Quite surprising solution It's a pity they didn't issued something like "if it is too hot, just don't use heater system"
The time of the dash removal will come sooner or later - I want to retro fit electric windows, central locking system and will probably exchange the alarm unit + have no audio at the moment and the dash makes annoying noises when driving ++ will have to try to make this car a little more quite and warmer, so yes - will start mentaly prepare to dash removal But after seeing the JLR fix I doubt I will give it a try.. Anyone tried it? |

I have another cunning plan which I will hopefully one day get round to trying, which is to insert a length of copper tube into the inlet pipe to the heater matrix so than the hot water is delivered to the upper right corner instead of the upper left. My theory is that this will result in.more uniform temperature across the matrix.
I also intend to modify the airbox so that the direction centre dash vents discharge unheated air since I don't like warm air at face level. |

So you mean you would like to stick it far to the right so the water starts flowing from the "end" of the matrix instead of the connection point of the pipe and the matrix? The JLR solution is to shorten the way a little or am I missing something?
