Cross member is perfect......
yes this rear step saved the cross member (now i'm sure that it was worth ALL the money) because a perfect rear cross member is better than a "perfected repaired" rear cross member..... Mine bought HERE Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition IID Pro MV License |

They are brilliant these rear tow steps I have one also. All I wish mine had was a ball & pin tow hitch because it's just got a regular tow ball currently. So many people on the roads (mostly small cars) persist on cutting you up ect and I'm often left thinking if you hit me you'll come off worse. I have been over taken by a woman in a Corsa on a ROUNDABOUT (no signals at all from her) despite indicating perfectly AND perfect positioning and no I wasn't going slow. I'm left thinking Defender v Corsa do i need to answer that one?..... Now I know from pics above. Defender gets some scratches and the cars get dents and smashed up lights ect

Hi Dgardel...
Wow - just to think that a couple of weeks ago we were having a ride in your lovely wagon..! Good that the damage was minimal - I'm looking at getting one of those steps as well .. just need to save some pennies! Hmmm...did the parking sensors detect the car before the impact I wonder..? ! Stay safe over there! Team Wyvern! Here is the question..... is it testament to how strong the Defender is.... or is it showing how cheap and nasty European low budget cars are?.... I remember my old disco rolling forward into a Clio at about 1/2 mph and there wasn't even a scuff on the Disco but the brand new Clio needed £700 worth of work .
My Defender now has Winch bumper on front, rock sliders down the side and a rear step/ tow bar so I am safe from almost every direction . Good to see you and your Defender are fine Glyn |

to a degree but has anyone had any experience of rear Bumperettes or Steps like these sold by Rebel http://www.rebel4x4.co.uk/steps.htm
my nearly new Puma [if i can make the deal] will come with a tow bar etc as standard so i assume the full width step will make the fitted tow bar redundant? thanks and apologies for the slight thread hi-jack, but i have been wondering about rear protection, the steps seem so expensive! BM52 |
