Part of me wants to go and give the Daesh minions a big cuddle and a packet of donuts. They're trying to fuel hatred of themselves and I don't want them to have the satisfaction. Equally I don't want to give them any donuts and the cuddle would be much better directed to victims of their actions.
Sadly given the Trump rhetoric they do seem to be successfully fueling Muslim-hating which is mis-directed and wrong, and playing right in to their hands. |

You cannot help but think about all those innocent people going about their normal business and for many of them and their relatives, their lives will never be the same again. I have many friends and former colleagues in Belgium and spent a lot of time in the departure lounge at Brussels airport and can't stop thinking about the nightmare these people went through. No politics or conjecture from me but thoughts are with all those touched by the events yesterday. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

Belgium have allowed IS operatives go come and go as they please without hindrance so they have blood on their hands. That Molynbeek is a bees hive of radicalised foot soldiers and they did nothing until Paris. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Not really very educated comments here. Most of you clearly know nothing more than what the poorly informed press are reporting. I am here now, repatriating the Mrs. who lived the entire event right here on the spot at Zaventem airport on Tuesday morning. Luckily not hurt, but seen and felt it all, ugly. We are hitting the road back home in the SVX early tomorrow. Something like this can and will happen again in the best of countries, including the UK. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

This is the terrifying bit. The people carrying out these attacks will not stop until they've turned the whole of Europe (and further) in on itself. That these attacks seem to be closer to home (for all of us) more frequent and at a time when the things such as the UK EU referendum are ongoing can't be a coincidence. The whole thing stinks of some greater plan, but I have no idea by who or to what ends. I'm very sorry to hear that your wife was caught up in it, but glad that she is physically OK. Hopefully there aren't too many long term effects for her. |

Hi Eric, am glad that Mrs Eric is safe and well. I hope Mrs Eric and the other survivors manage to cope with the shock and psychological impact as well as the physical injuries.
Physical injuries depending on severity can be overcome to a greater or lesser extent. The psychological impact on those who were present at the scenes of the explosion and the emergency services who had to deal with the event can be more difficult for other people to see/understand As HOG said
Have a safe and uneventful trip home Eric Brendan |

It all just seems so totally futile and unnecessary, "we believe something you don't, but because our belief system won't allow any other belief than ours you must convert or die", I personally find that so very difficult to get my head around yet the more we think about it and the less emotional we let our responses to it be, the better the liklihood of a meaningful resolution that doesn't involve bombing people back into the stone age. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Eric, I wish you and your wife a lot of strength and wisdom in processing her horrendous experience.
It is astonishing to hear how many people are affected directly and indirectly. At least a dozen of people I spoke to have a friend, colleague or family member that has been involved either as a witness, victim or first responder. This will cast a long and heavy shadow over our city for a long time to come. Brussels is trying to get to grips with what has happened. People seek support with one another, and fortunately the majority of reactions comes from people who realise that we can't let bitterness and hate enter our hearts: it would be the ultimate way to honour the terrorist's ambitions and restrain our freedom. Courage, Joris |

From Southampton Medina Mosque
MOSQUE NOTICE BOARD Let us pray for all victims of terrorism and unjust killings and their families. Let us defy the terrorists by calling for unity between people, not division or sectarianism. Let us be united not only with our Muslim brothers and sisters, but also with the wider community. Let us show the world our abhorrence of this and all violence. Let us all pray for peace and unity in these troubling times. May Allah ease hardship and suffering across the world, and may He grant peace and security especially in the Middle East, and every conflict area. My thoughts are with all of those involved. G'Day Eric, from Aussie, Glad that you & yours are OK. Mate, yes, some strange comments here. It is for sure that "turning the other cheek", talking etc etc etc, is not going to work with these guys. They are Bullies, and they are Cowards,....and they will not respond to "being nice". If any of these mongrels met us on their "territory", they would kill us, in the worst possible way that they could,...they have proven that, time & time again. "Bombing the hell out of them",....the Brits & the Aussies & the U.S. have not done that. In fact IMHO they've done a very good job, showing admirable restraint in the most difficult of situations. They have also been proven successful in knocking off many high level "operatives" with this approach. I am not a war monger, I detest ANY sort of violence, BUT, there is a time & a place,....... Pickles. |

Back since yesterday afternoon. All well. The following really is secondary, but worth mentioning on here that the SVX also behaved flawlessly.
