Scotland 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Keswick Green
Having been on the wrong end of a remap with my D3, I can say, only go to a specialist tuner, who knows these cars inside out

My map was done locally(ish) on a dyno, and made very good power. However, within 5k miles, it had eaten a gearbox, transfer box, rear diff and a set of injectors. Nice way to spend £6k Big Cry

Car was repaired, and driven down to Alive for one of their Stage 2 maps. Yes, I did loose a bit of power, approx 10bhp at the flywheel, but only 4 bhp at the wheels

However, it is much more driveable with less smoke. And I don't have to worry about it blowing up anymore Thumbs Up
Then we had the wife's Freelander 2 mapped by Alive. And will be going for a stage 3 map on the Defender when time/funds allow Thumbs Up

The only car I own that has not been mapped by Alive is my Freelander 1, which was mapped by the Rover/MG factory engineers Wink

Scotland 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 DCPU Stornoway Grey
Guys, I'm going to stick up for Superchips here.

I "bluefinned" my 2010 2.4 three years ago now, having had superchips maps in previous vehicles without any trouble at all. Before doing this, I called Superchips and the guy who answered the phone was actually one of the technicians - he was more than happy to talk technical and answered competently all my geeky questions about the process, how they tested and what was involved. He explained that some companies just screw up the boost to get more power and whilst this was involved, they also changed injection timing settings across the rev range as well as other parameters. I was concerned that the 110 would black smoke under load - he assured me it wouldn't.

So, i ordered the unit and went though the update process.

What a difference. No smoke, quieter (clattered like buggary in standard tune) and bags more power / torque. Pulls like hell, even with a big trailer.

That was 65,000 miles ago now and I've had NO issues at all, none. The motor is serviced regularly using the right oil and OEM consumables. It's used for heavy towing and everything is normal on the gauges. It's fair to say I'm not kind to it either and the upgrade made it very much more drivable, 6th gear torque is fantastic and it overtakes with ease. It will sit on the limiter all day.

Result? Regular fuel consumption figures are between 28-31.5mpg - genuine, week in week out, mixed driving.

I fully believe that BAS do a great job, Alive too however my experience with the Bluefin is genuinely superb. They quote 165Bhp and about 430nm and whilst it's not been on a rolling road, the 110 feels like this increase is genuine over the flat 122bhp standard setup.

Fully recommended and cheap too.
