Advice on fitting Nakatanenga Stainless Bolt Kit please :-)
Greetings All,

From all I've read, this seems a straightforward job but as I possess no skills, thought to ask some advice Smile

Any tips or things to watch out for when fitting the stainless steel bolts would be much appreciated.

Does any trim need to be removed or anything tricky need to be done to access nuts etc?!

Once fitted, I then plan on sticking 5mm ball bearings in their heads.

Many Thanks,

Edmond

Nothing too difficult

Bolts are in 10 named bags

Put a tarpaulin down so you can easily find a dropped bolt, especially if doing it on grass or gravel

One bag at a time. Make sure you have the correct size tool.

Use some penetrating oil/lubricant.

Undo one bolt at a time and carefully compare them

Take your time

HTH

I'd recommend WD40 on all bolts the day before you want to change over.
Those you can get at at least.
You'll need some paper towels or cloths to throw away for cleaning up any paste and fingers.

It is your decision whether to put stainless or not, but believe Weicon is a much better "dissimilar metals anti seizing paste" than the Duralac. I have experience with both, and became a convinced believer in the Weicon.
Before somebody will try to start the yea/nay argumentation, just take a look at below, (every day is a school day), and then decide for yourself which route to go with your choice of paste. Thumbs Up

SS bolts are put in with Tefgel in the marine industry. We did my mates 110DC and after ten years when he needed some work all the bolts we treated were easy to undo!
It is what I will use with the SS bolt kit I got from Brendan.

Duralac is designed and made as an inhibitor of electrolytic corrosion between dissimilar materials. It is not an anti seize paste for stainless steel nuts and bolts.

You need a paste with both anti seize and electrolytic corrosion properties.

Thanks all for your feedback; much appreciated Smile

Thanks for the info Brendan. So, what's the best product to get, or is there enough supplied with the bolt set?

I received about 10 packets of anti seize paste with my bolt kit from Nakatenaga. Looked like normal silver anti seize paste, but not being able to decifer the German on the packets, I'm not sure if the stuff also has dielectric properties??
