Sound Proofing: Silent Coat or Fat Mat?
So I'm looking to add some sound proofing to my new bulkhead on my 110 1989 200Tdi. However wondering which is better SilentCoat or FatMat?

Has anyone here fitted SilentCoat to the outside / engine bay side of the bulkhead and how has that held up (on)?

cheers,

Richard

I fully lined my new bulkhead with silent coat. I put then put self adhesive closed cell foam on all the areas where there was room to do so and wouldn't effect the fitting of the dash back on.

It has made a big difference to engine noise entering the cab and I am really pleased I did this while I had the new bulkhead going in.

Definitely recommend doing it.

I used a Noisekiller kit. Comes precut with vague but achievable instructions.

Made my radio twice as loud, best upgrade I've ever done to a Def. Simon D

I used non branded equivalents from eBay - same effect, fraction of the cost. Sandy

I used Silentcoat. It's fine, does what it says on the tin.
Can't really get excited about it, at the end of the day it's thick foil backed with sticky bitumen stuff.

If I was doing it again I'd probably go with something cheaper off ebay or wherever.
