Ive run BFG AT's for years on Disco's and Defenders - the current set on the disco have done around 75K and aren't half used.
Fantastic in the Snow, never had a problem in the wet (unless ive been driving stupidly, but then i know when im doing that!) great off road - fine on grass. One situation where i have found issue is when the roads are greasy - that screws them maybe more than road bias tyres. But when you consider how good they are, the service life, the quality etc - BFG AT's every time. Mike |

I agree with what MSE just wrote. I run BFG AT's on the last two 110 and BFG MT's on the 90. The MT’s as you would expect can be a bit hairy in the wet if you push a little and not as good a the AT's however in deep snow and mud the MT have it. When the snow becomes compacted the AT's seem as good if not better. Only my personal view mind and others may see it differently.

Looks like A/T's then I guess. Will be more comfortable for road driving too than the M/T which I imagine will be a bit noisier.

One of the problems with long lasting tyres is that most individual drivers/owners can not realistically do comparison tests.
We run BFG tyres on our LR's BFG M/T 255/85/16 on the 110's and BFG A/T 235?? on the Disco. Yes I am very happy with BFG's and I will not be changing tyre manufacturers in the near future. Yes I am sure that there are people who are very happy with GG, Cooper tyres etc It is many years (mid 90's) since a decent tyre comparison test was done. LRO found that M/T takes an extra 10% stopping distance over A/T of the same make in the wet. HTH Brendan |

Which is fortunate then when you have a number of vehicles running different tyres. The off road set were remolds MT - which ive just sold. The replacements are current GG. The 90 runs the std GG and whilst there is nothing wrong with them - when they expire they will not be replaced like for like. The other 90 had BFG copies they were poor. I was lent some copper ATs - did see the excitement, they certainly didnt seem as good all round as the BFG - got rid of them and replaced with Goodyear road tyres before selling the car. We have OE fit Pirelli Scorpions on the D3, and I've always been v impressed with them when I've ventured in to the odd muddy field. I was on a weekend green laning in Yorkshire last year (in my 90) but one of the guys there was in a D3 on std fit Scorpions. He got in and out of everything we did - no problems at all. We had a bit of rain one of the days, although no real deep mud - but the D3 kept going.
I took the D3 down to Somerset recently and it poured Biblical rain for days. Took the D3 in to a friendly farmer's field and had a bit of a spin arond. I would agree - for road tyres the Pirelli's were always very good - they just werent that hard wearing Mike

True...
Many years ago I had a Toyota MR2 - thought I was the bees knees, young man, smart new car, playing F1 driver games at every corner and roundabout with my trusty Pirelli's clinging like limpets. I was very pleased with myself (very embarrassed now ). Didn't feel quite so clever when I went through a pair of rear tyres in 7 months though!!! Which means you can only drive on their roads but they have over 300,000 different types of mud for you to enjoy. When you meet other drivers you have to tell them how your BFGs have changed your life and you compare lug patterns with other BFG owners. BFG are great tyres but General AT2 are better on wet tarmac.
