Which DRL controller do you have? Some only have a 12V feed from the battery, and switch the DRLīs on when the input voltage goes up to over 13.4V. In other words when the alternater is charging (motor running).
Do your DRLīs switch on with the ignition, or only when the ignition is on AND the motor is running? If so, then it could be that, at the point where the DRL controller is connected, the the AC is pulling the voltage down below the switching voltage. Connect the DRL controller directly to the battery +. Check the controllerīs earth connection, too. 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

Many thanks for the suggestions. I'm sadly not technically minded, but will check all this when at the garage and also run it by TMD. I don't recall if the motor is running when the DRLs come on - shall check when in the car next.
These are the exact units: http://tmdtuning.com/shop/jw-speaker-led-h...drl-evo-2/ Much appreciated |

Do the DLRs work correctly when the headlights are put on (I think they should go out but may just dim). Thought process is maybe a feed has accidentally been taken from the a/c supply rather than the lighting to turn them off? 2003 Defender TD5 Hardtop (current - work in progress)

They stay on but I think are dimmed. I'm only judging this by the reflection I've seen whilst driving. Shall have a look later to see properly. Thanks

Ok, had a look. The DRLs come on when the ignition is in position one (radio comes on etc) and stay on when in position two and the engine is running.

Edzi,
I have the same EVO IIīs fitted to mine. They came with a controller which may well be the same as yours. It has a permanent 12V input and an igniton switched one. It is the ignition switched one which actually decides when the DRLīs go on, and judging from the fact that the DRLīs go on with the ignition, would appear to be connected correctly. A third input from the side lights switches them off - when the side or headlights are switched on. Could you check to see if the DRLīs are switching off when the side or headlights are activated? Do they dim or do they switch off completely? 1998 Tdi 90 SW, 2008 Td4 90 SW, 2012 2.2 90 SW, 2" raised Trailmaster/Terrafirma Heavy Track Raids, 255 MTīs, Recaro CSīs, anorak, wellingtons |

If the DRLīs switch on with the ignition and switch off (or dim) as they should do with the side lights, it would appear that the controller is still correctly connected.
And it means Iīve run out of ideas how to help you, Iīm afraid. Anyone else got a suggestion? Your best bet is to bring it back to those who last worked on it. But Iīm sure youīve already thought of that. Thanks
I was at Auto Audio UK and they looked at it and said it wasn't wired up properly. They re-wired it and it now works perfectly. TMD which installed it are over 2 hours drive, so glad I could get it done closer to home! Thanks again for everyone's suggestions |

Update: TMD to their credit will be refunding half the labour they charged and also contacting other customers to make sure the wiring has been done correctly.
