1983 Defender 90 200 Tdi HT Oslo Blue
Swivel ball pin
Hi guys I have a 1983 90 that has been modified in the past it has got different axels on the vehicle and my swivel bearings went on the vehicle the other day and my local landrover parts dealer have had a nightmare trying to find the right top swivel pin and bearing they have given me one that looks like

And this is the one that I have taken out of the vehicle will I be okay to build it up with the above or do I need to get the correct one for the vehicle as I took the one in to them bellow and they did not recognise it at all and sent me out with the above.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Blimey, the bottom one is the Td5/transit type. They all interchange pretty much anyway so long as you change the bearings etc all together so I wouldn't panic too much.

Your lower picture looks like the Td5 arrangement - TAR100040 (non ABS axles) or TAR100050 (ABS axles).

The ABS version appears to have a hole down the middle.

I assume you have been sold a Railko type pin and bush based on your reg/chassis number.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

They've sent him packing with the TDI type from the looks of it. I'm shocked they didn't recognise the one you want, it's pretty much the most common type out there now.

Thanks for the replys guys they sent me a pin and bush the first time, which didn't fit then the second one time they sent the wrong bearing so the third Time I went with the bearing and pin and they sent me away with the top picture which on initial inspection appears to fit will it be okay to use may just need some more shims or less ?

It will fit as long as you have the correct corresponding bearing for it. May need more shims, may need less. Just set the swivel up and it'll be happy days Thumbs Up
