RECOMMENDED - Rimless Direct Wales - AKA @steve E
This is a positive recommendation for the awesome Rimless Direct (Wales)
(Owned by our very own Steve Elworthy @steve E) D2 Dot Net Site Sponsor and dedicated Heritage owner... Bow down

Like many (?) of us maturing Defender owners, I have to wear spectacles... Cool

Generally though, for work-a-days I normally wear contact lenses, but find after a day with them in, I cannot wait to remove them and don my lightweight rimless Silhouettes with full varifocal bells & whistles lenses... Rolling Eyes

My current specs are at least 8/9 years old. Some time ago the arms were replaced by Boots, from a second pair I had knocking around but do not use any more. Then a couple of months ago one of the replaced arms broke (they were a bit flimsy tbh!) and I fixed them... Idea

Almost like new sort of Jack Duckworth stylee... Laughing

(Pic courtesy of Daily Mail article)

Anyway, long story short, I was concerned they would not last much longer and had a thought... Idea and an exchange of messages with Steve, earlier in the week, who immediately said pop them in the post and I'll take a look... Wink

Today, after only sending them off Monday, I received these back... Very Happy

And the new arms are GREEN to boot, fabulous job, I never expected them returned so quickly and GREEN... Mr. Green

Ignore the poor state of the glass, that is from previous attempts to sort them out, not all successful... Whistle

But the service from Steve @ Rimless Direct is absolutely first class - quality job, speedy service and reasonable charges!... Bow down

All-in, a far better service than I have ever received from any of the High Street retailers... Rolling Eyes

So, I now know where my next prescription pair of spectacles will be sourced > Rimless Direct (Wales), that's a no-brainer for me... Mr. Green
 Rog... Mr. Green
The GREEN One...

Good innovational repair, did it affect the balance at all?

Did you attach bootlace ferrals, or solder the ends before terminating Rolling with laughter Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon, I think... Thumbs Up

5amp I think, although it could be either/or... Rolling Eyes

Balance was not impeded at all, much, just had to tilt my head slightly, a bit like Jack... Laughing

No soldering or other fixing methods necessary outside of the tiny flathead tightening too Cool

My handiwork is nowhere near as competent as Steve's though... Bow down

Awesome job in much faster time than anywhere else I have previously used... Mr. Green

Your eyes have done equally well to maintain the same prescription for 8/9 years. Thumbs Up For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Unfortunately Varifocals can't be made without accurate measurements being taken first.
Single vision Distance and near spectacles can.
Rogers were a replacement frame only.
If anyone would like to pop down to Barry in South Wales I can make anything you would like including prescription Oakley and Rayban specs.

Hi Walfy

You do need to bring the prescription with you. I'll take the measurements and make the Specs.

Indeed, not too bad Gil, in fact there was actually a slight improvement last time they were checked (I am a bit overdue!)... Whistle

But that was before my brush with Cancer last year when, a couple of months before we found out, my eyes went a bit squiffy and I had to stop wearing contacts and have a prism fitted on my specs... Rolling Eyes

Once I went into remission my eyes righted (related?) and I have now resumed wearing contacts during the working day and, hence, could afford to send my specs to Steve to be fixed... Thumbs Up

I now have an appointment to make and have the overdue test... Cool

And, probably, a new prescription for Steve to sort out for me... Mr. Green
