Did it say at the bottom of the post that the lights are not road legal, but can be made road legal?

Yes, that's correct. The lamps themselves are all E-marked and legal except for the 80 Series spot beam option, so if you really wanted to you could fit standard bubs. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thought I'd add some pics over here as well. Here's my current set-up with a pair of 80 Series Lamps:
Click image to enlarge This is what they can achieve (one spot, one drive). These photos are completely unaltered and with identical settings. For comparison, my D3 has the full xenon adaptive lighting system which already produces a total of ~9400 raw lumens vs ~3300 from a pair of H4 bulbs as per the Defender: Before/After The signpost at the end of the road is over 500m away: Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |

I have them fitted on both my 110 and 90 now, I wouldn't fit anything else.

Hi guys. I've added further info to the main thread and now have bulb and wiper prices.
We need to reach 5 pairs of lamps in total to get the lower prices, I'm going to take another pair, so at present only 3 more are needed. Bulbs that would be of interest for the Defender (prices per pair):
H4 - Night Tech - £25.25 - RRP £35.80 H4 - Xtreme White Plus - £45.70 - RRP £63.56 Non-E-marked: H4 60/55=130/120W - Competition - £71.30 - RRP £98.93 H4 80/80=150/150W - Competition - £77.25 - RRP £107.16 H4 60/80=140/165W - Competition - £65.25 - RRP £91.57 H9 65=120W - Xtreme White - £52.80 - RRP £74.82 (SVX additional driving lamps) The non-E-marked bulbs are the ones that can give great performance gains because they're not constrained by ECE regulations. More fitments listed on Disco3. Please note that suitable wiring is needed for the over-wattage bulbs (the latter two H4 bulbs - all others draw the standard wattage). Indeed, to get the full benefit from any of the bulbs, good loom condition is important. Any questions, just ask. Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver |
