My first Defender was a used 200tdi. My original plan was to fit a radio shortly after getting it. However I soon realised that I would struggle to hear it most of the time and so I didn't bother.
Last year I changed to a 2010 Puma 90, which came with the standard Land Rover radio and cd player. With the reduced engine noise on this model, the radio is usable. The only thing is that the unit doesn't seem to follow a national station by picking up the strongest frequency as one drives along, despite being set to do so, something which the unit in our car seems to manage without any problem. Therefore I'm wondering whether the radio / cd player provided just isn't up to much, or could it be the old style aerial that is lacking ? I would welcome any thoughts or ideas on this. Could be something as simple as the facility for this function is not enabled on the radio. Have a look at the radio guide. It could inadvertently have been turned off. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
