I currently have a spare range rover classic that I'm using for parts, I've noticed they have the steering damper on the track rod as apposed to the defender setup on the steering control arm.
Could I fit the range rover track rod and bracket to enable me to fit twin steering dampers? The reason I ask is that I am having a set of 18" wheels fitted with 285 tyres and I think the extra weight will need more damping. Am I Barking up the wrong tree or could this mod work and be worth it? Waste of time. You only need one that's in good nick. If you don't cope with just one, and are getting death wobble and steering judders, you have too much play somewhere else in the suspension/steering setups.

Thanks for the replies
I didn't have any problems at all running 265s on standard alloys. I wasn't sure if the 18s with 285s would cause wobble? I'm still waiting for the upgrades to be finished so haven't driven it on the 18s yet it's just something to tinker with I suppose at zero cost to me As for the terrafirma rtc damper, I've heard mixed reviews and assumed they were more aimed at off road setups? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

The defender unit is on the front steering bar to keep it safe when off roading - when the steering damper is fitted to the rear bar [as classics and discovery 1 ] it is more prone to damage - it doesn't take much to dent the casing and next thing the steering gets a tight spot.
