I have been told by a contact who has in the past been 100% correct in all information that there will not be a new model that in any way will be a Defender as we all know it .........jut my 1 cent passed on view.
funny how the world differs In Ireland we have guys who do brain surgery... and guys who are rocket scientists |

Correct, I also don't think they are built for purpose as is often said. Maybe earlier, but surely not the most recent evolutions. But, by treating it the way I do, I hope it will last for many moons to come. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

The problem is that they talk so funny, you just can't take them seriously. |

There is another alternative. Re-badging with some corporate identity mods also for legislative reasons. The Ford Ranger a Mazda for example (was anyway).
Pumas have always had Ford motors (sadly never the 3.2), modified to Defender specs. Here is a question to consider. If LR or another company, designed a Defender replacement for the military, that would be more worthily titled "Defender". Now suppose said vehicle was civvy-ilised. It would have ruggedness, simplicity (relative), background. LR would have a Defender proper, or maybe could buy into it for re-badging and partially making their own. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender |

Hummer made (makes) a military vehicle which by all accounts is very rugged and does the job, then they civvy-ilised it and my God what a design disaster that was, although I do believe that it sells well in the good old US of A

Another Photoshop effort, on this occasion carried out by an inept infant, I suggest. However unlikely it is that the new Defender will have a similar rear crossmember to the old, I am fairly sure the tow hitch will be central, unlike the picture!

Hi blackwolf
We shouldn't read too much into this well used 'vision' of the new Defender... The tow frame is I think actually central, it just looks off set due to what looks like an off set rear winch protected by a 'steering guard'...all as you say photo-shopped onto a standard rear cross member and those rubbish (rust before your eyes) mud flap brackets...so NO...not this Click image to enlarge SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

Also how does that flat rear crossmember go around the corner to reach the wheel arch? Ray

You may be right, but the whole rear end looks skewiff and lopsided. Not a good effort, imo.

There are loads of pics kicking about of the DC 100 showing the rear end, can't understand why someone would stick a defender crossmember on the back. 130's have feeling's as well you know

From the rear and side view, I actually quite like the DC100. It was the front end that was the abomination for me...
