Newbie in need of advice
Hi everyone I'm Jason my first post on the site, and my first defender too talk about going in at the deep end with the first job I went for the an 07 puma.
No issues on the get go it was a great vehicle for the first 6 months until the clutch went a couple of weeks back.

So I've purchased the latest clutch repair kit and a new space cylinder along with the plastic bleed nipple pipe that connects into the slave cylinder. It's all back together with relatively no issues however .... And I really do hope someone points out a schoolboy error because I'm clueless at this point. I've come to bleed the car and tried the conventional old school method pumping the pedal and opening and closing the bleed nipple until all air is expelled go there in the end no air in the system
But the pedal is spongy and soft still and doesn't seem to have enough pressure to engage the clutch.

I've got a master cylinder coming in the post today so I all else fail after that I haven't a clue why it doesn't seem to want to keep pressure any ideas???

When I changed my clutch, I had to adjust the master cylinder/pedal hight to get a decent feeling clutch again.
Have you tried that, you might find the master cylinder is not traveling far enough.

Do a search for "pedal adjustment"

Plenty on the subject. Thumbs Up 80" 80" 86" 88" 90"

Wanted, Forward Control Anything considered.

Well the master cylinder has been changed yet the problem remaind.

A complete schoolboy error the stupidity I felt when realising what was wrong was almost soul destroying.
The low box was put in neutral unbeknown to my knowledge by the person who was sat pushing the pedal for me when bleeding why I don't know. And they never thought to tell me and I never suspected that as after a big job I could only think and expect the worst.
Thanks for the master cylinder guide was a help.

Now a good as new defender again, just the pride that's hurt this time.

I think everyone has done something like that at least once, it's all part of the learning process. Credit to you for posting what the problem was, and by doing so helping the next person. Thumbs Up
