After 4 months of waiting and not having a Defender parked up to tinker with on a Sunday afternoon this finally arrived.
Ex MOD general servive 110 soft top. Manufactured 1993 has 2.5 NA diesel, fortunately power steering has been retro fitted when it came out of service. It also has disc brake rear axle which was not always fitted to general service vehicles. Short time plan is to civilianise it a little first, but i intend on keeping its Ex military roots. I have not been able to enjoy the joys and pitfalls of Defender ownership for a while due to previous (2year) project never really getting of the ground, (thread is in 130 section). So my intention is to use for while before making any major changes. Long term plan is to take out the NA diesel and put in a 4.2 rover V8 which i rebuilt and upgraded for my previous project and thank goodness managed to keep when i sold the project. Manged to find link to engine thread for those interested http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30606.html So here goes, first pic as it was sitting in UK. Click image to enlarge Arrives in Northern Ireland Click image to enlarge First job on the list was a thorough clean it had been used as a farm hack and had been sitting around for long times in between. Soft top was a little greener than it should be Click image to enlarge I could bore you with dozens of before and after cleanig pictures but i wont Second job was to bolt on Compomotive wheels and Cooper 285s which im sure you agree changes the look considerably. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge A few cosmetic changes due shortly but next thing on list is a good service change of fluids etc. thanks for reading plenty of posts to come Cheers 1993 Defender 110 Ex Military soft top, with a long wishlist already Last edited by Rosso_NI on 14th Feb 2016 9:00am. "Compomotive wheels... changes the look considerably"
That's for sure: not quite clear what look you're aiming for, though... Peter |

Thanks for the comments looks like the Compomotives are dividing opinion i have a set of Wolf or HD rims which need blasted and painted they might end up on it who knows.
It will be a gradual transormation so im sure there will be bits i put on or fit, dont like and take off, is that not the fun of it As for the overall look who knows were it might end up ! Managed to give it a good service yesterday, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, changed fluids in Diffs and transfer box, just have belts to change and gearbox fluid to change, all in a days work 1993 Defender 110 Ex Military soft top, with a long wishlist already |

I'd take your wheels over a cheap set of modulars any day. Wolf rims on the other hand are a different story..... Will 285's fit on wolf rims?

Nice 110 Lucifus good to see some options, think 285s are to big for the Wolf rims 265s probably a better bet for them.
Really like the summer spec Bikini Top look, any idea what sort of money is involved in a bikini top? 1993 Defender 110 Ex Military soft top, with a long wishlist already |

Made another change over the weekend had the JW speakers from previous project and fitted a powder coated pair of series light surrounds............. not sure if i like the way it looks, seemed like a good idea on paper
Any thoughts Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Will give the radiator grill a coat of black to tie it in with rest of front end..... might help 1993 Defender 110 Ex Military soft top, with a long wishlist already |

I made the bikini hood myself out of an old torn canvas hood. It's bigger that the ones you can buy ready made. Having it slightly longer kept it dry in the front when not in use. I basically used a cheap fibreglass tent pole accross the back to make it rigid but leave some flex and bungeed that to the back.
Not a fan of the series light surrounds I'm afraid, although you should build it how you want it. Screw what anyone else thinks 😀 |

Not sure about the lights, they look a bit dark i think the surrounds would look better in the green imo
