thanks for that comment Laurie ........ just beacuse it is clean in this picture does not mean it is a poser wagon........I have been bought up on Land Rovers and this just happens to be the one I use on road hence the tyre choice and also because I felt the vehicle was unsafe having been remapped and with an Overdrive long periods at over 90mph are not uncommon (not in the UK!!).......well 90% of the time it is one road see below:
But I am sure you will agree that my ex-military 110 that I rebuilt from the ground up is probably not a poser wagon and this thing gets used and abused on a weekly basis: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

Much better photos.
Like the Salisbury Plain pic How do you keep the mud out of the air horns? |

I'm glad you approve!
That is actually a green lane near me just off the Ridgeway. Bin bag goes over horn and does keep them relatively clear of dirt.....althougha quick toot usually clear them too! |

I got them from Top Gear Trading. I have bought lots of wheels for clients through them, if you want some speak to Lee and mention Mike Bishop recomended you.
http://www.topgeartrading.co.uk/AutoStylin...-1021.aspx I have 285/60 R18 Hankooks on them and I cannot tell you how much more stable the vehicle feels. I have adjusted teh steering stops a tiny bit and that is it..........a straight swap. A really good investment if you use your Defender on road a lot and it has 180bhp or so. |

VW have horn covers that always seemed a good idea basically thin plastic with an elastic edge to hook over.
Steering stops...making it turn even worse is brave Defenders can be poser tools, if that what floats your boat. They do look better in mud though! Mike |

Trust me this is not for posing.........this machine is simply there to make me smile every time I get in it......I think that is what Defender ownership is about.
Trust if there was mud in London it would be in it! mmmmm.....the turning circle is now on a par with a super tanker! |

When I put my Defender 90 on axle stands, right lock left the tyre 1.5 inches from the radius arm!
Left lock was a little better at 1 inch. Adjusting both to about 1/8" gave a miraculous improvement |
