1989 Defender 90 V8 Petrol ST Alpine White

36 spline boss

Can anyone throw any light on this little conundrum??

I have bought a Momo steering wheel & 36 spline Momo boss from a forum sponsor to go on my 1989 V8 CSW
when I have tried fitting it I have found that it fowls the column shrouds,
when I say fowls its more than just "rubbing" if i were to tighten the wheel fully i wouldn't be able to turn the steering wheel at all!

so I removed the plastic shrouds to see what was going on & the second problem is that the indicator cancel finger on the boss is far to long & has bent on the blue plastic key-way around the column & of course being cast this has now broken off!

In the box is some paper work that says if fits a classic Range Rover but no mention of a early Ninety
the supplier says there is only one 36 spline boss & is "looking in to it"

Anyone come across this issue?
