Trailer warning light
Hi Forum,

I am replacing my instrument cluster with an aftermarket custom fit. most of the 'common' warning light will be on the new cluster but some remain. This being said, How is the trailer warning light configured?

I intend to to tow often so it would be good to have working, from what i can ascertain the light illuminates when trailer is connected and flashes if there is an error.

I cant imaging this is real technical magic, it is based on earth loop and +12 v somewhere - any guides?

The lamp is illuminated by the flasher relay when it detects a trailer lamp load. It's not calculated by the lamp cluster.  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

this is also typical for LED lights bulbs.

so its based on load for of a relay, wouldn't this be from standard tails lights?? the flasher would only have load on indicator use (is my assumption based ?)

It uses the load from the indicators, not the tail lights.

I don't have experience of LED flasher units to be able to tell you what happens with LEDs, sorry.
