Clutch and shifting problems
Hi guys!

Just wanted to have a second opinion ,

for nearly 6 months the car sometimes shifts bad , downshifts are imposible without rev matching.
The stealer couldnt find the problem , but changed the gearbox fluid anyway. it was a bit better.

now last week I was on the moterway and wanted to shift from 5th to 6th , and the clutch pedal sank quickly to the floor. I did managed to shift perfectly to 6th. Being afraid I just hooped the clutch cylinder I waited on an exit to try my clutch again.
This time it had pressure again and i managed to declutch. putting car into gear was more difficult tho.

this week I had it happen 1 time again.

Yesterday I compared it to a TD5 and my clutch was much lighter.

Clutch doesn't slip while on power (dealer always asks if my TD4 is tuned , its not).

I was among the first in Belgium to have the dreaded exploded clutch @ 34.000km , its now running 112.000km.

I booked the car already at an independent shop to replace my master cylinder. The clutch fluid is black but its not leaking.
I hope this is the problem , and not some other fault.

anyone had this one yet? Discovery 4 SDV6 Landmark

Have you had the shims put under the gear selector? I had trouble selecting some gears and this seemed to fix it, I'm sure there is a how to on here somewhere. The dealer did mine under warranty.

Assuming that the fluid level is correct, I would suspect that the seals in either the master or slave cylinder are failing, so the clutch is not disengaging fully.

I'd say seals too as the fluid is black. Ray

I replaced the master cylinder , the truck does shift a lot better. upshifting is better but still not easy at high rpm (downhill)

upshifts pop into gear easy , before I had to force them in.

feel so bad for my syncro´s now...

thanks guys!
Will do the shims when I have time.
